Latest Golf Hole Pictures

Photos on This Page Last Updated October 15, 2019

This Web page contains golf hole pics of North Ridge CC that have been "recently" added to our Website. I put recently in quotes, as I am not sure how often the page will be updated. It depends upon weather/camera-availability when I am on the golf course and other factors.

It is intended that the next phase of North Ridge photos will be movies of each golf hole. When will that be completed? I have no idea. None of this is officially part of North Ridge and its projects; I am simply an interested member of North Ridge Country Club who enjoys this topic.

Some of the pictures included in this page are also on the primary pictures-of-golf-holes at North Ridge Web page pointed to my this site's navigation page (see the above "About Us, Newsletters, Discussion, Golf Course Pictures' button).

The photos/site are purely taken as part of my interest and are shared for others who have a common interest in this matter. Period.

If you have pictures of North Ridge CC that you feel would contribute to this site: Thank you, in advance, for contacting me.

Regards,
Dave Shogren, eMail: Webmaster@NRCCSeniorMensGolf.org

A Few from the Oaks Course Inside Nine - October 13, 2019

October 13, 2019

A wonderful golf/walk Sunday morning on the new Oaks Course. The second time of doing such brings a few comments to mind. If you see me at the club or want to eMail me with your interpretation of the new Oaks: I would enjoy the discussion!

  • I loved the "old" Oaks. I will (I assume) enjoy the "new" Oaks. For now (after two rounds on the Inside Oaks' 9-holes; I have not (yet) played the Outside Oaks' 9-holes) I still love the Oaks golf/walk. Will I enjoy all the changes? Probably not - We see, as time goes on. Perhaps I would enjoy the new Oaks more - if my HCP had remained 8-12... However, for me - now - (up to 20 hcp) the new changes remain-to-be-figured-out. That, of course, is "my problem" and not the course designer's, etc. Again, though: I LOVE the golf/walk and I am glad the new Oaks is still perfect in that regard.

  • Approach shots, now, on the (inside nine) definitely favor left-to-right players/shots. Ok... For me: Just keep in mind "stay left" on my second shots (since all holes, now - for me - are primarily three-shot holes).

  • Rough around some of the bunkers is so long that it is difficult to find close-to-bunker's balls. Could affect pace-of-play until the grass settles (if I understand it, two growing seasons until grass is "settled in").

  • Bunkers: It seems the "low entry/leave" factor of bunkering was forgotten? I am old... and, my knees could benefit from a low spot entry/leave point of view.... We see, as time goes on.

  • 18th Oaks used to be a lot of players' (that I heard from) was their favorite hole at North Ridge. The new layout "after the corner" may well change that.... We see. I am holding out opinion on Oaks 18th for the higher hcp player (compared with the "old" Oaks).

I miss the old Oaks 18th green from a "fun" point of view - and, the old 18th front pin location "birdie"-wise.

  • Oaks 5th photographs well.... however, I miss viewing the Holly(s) near the green. I wonder who or what they bothered...

  • Oaks 17th: It will be interesting how it is "sloped" (USGA-wise) when that comes about. I definitely could live without the "church pew" bunker affect -- however, I understand a lot of people love it. Ok! Just stay right on the tee shot.

  • I "miss" the Bentgrass greens... and, will REALLY miss them in the Winter, I guess. Overseeding (p.s. note: (end of 2029): I have learned, since I wrote this comment: The "new Bermuda grass will not have to be overseeded! Good)", Covering, etc.... We see.

I DO love the Oaks course - Just, not sure if I love the changes. We see. Your thoughts? I would enjoy the discussion with you. To do so eMail-wise:
send mail to: Webmaster@NRCCSeniorMensGolf.org

I will update the above "bullets" as time goes on. I enjoy such discussions.

Oaks Course "Is Back" - Weekend of September 29-30, 2019

September 29, 2019

Ok! The Oaks Course "is back". The 2019 renovation is past and we move on with the new Oaks Course. I loved the old Oaks Course and I look forward to the weekly golf/walks on the new Oaks Course.

Not a lot of photos taken this first 9-hole golf/walk for my wife and I (a 9-hole, "inside nine" morning); I wanted to not bother anyone with my taking photos (much) as we played this first time on the new Oaks Course. I will regularly, now, be adding to this Web page mainly Oaks views. We enjoyed the Lakes Course while the Oaks was closed/being renovated -- but, now: The Oaks will return as our favorite golf/walk (I will not miss the Lakes' Course walk 16th too to 1th tee!). It is nice to be back on the Oaks!!!

Lakes Course 13th - Par 5

September 1-8, 2019

As we took our regular Sunday-morning golf/walk including Lakes 13th, I had occasion to take a few photos and save them, below. (Sorry, I neglected to take a photo from the Front tee; I will do that soon)... I will no doubt use one in the 2019 Calendar that I put together. Which of the following? We see.... In any case, Lakes 13th is a favorite-drive spot for many of us.

A good start to "Fall Season" golf in our part of the world. If asked, I always respond about when is the "best" time to play golf in the Raleigh area? "September 15 -thru- October 15". We are getting near to that time! Good.

Clubhouse Area - 2019 Oaks' Renovation-Related

Progress is VERY apparent, now. Will "it" Make it by Mid-Sept? Stay tuned...

Oaks 12th - Par 4

A wonderful Par-4 that has even become more-beautiful, visually, after the "tree removal" projects of the last couple of years. The photos do not do the view justice - but, give an indication of this quality golf hole.

This golf hole has not changed much over the years - no need for it to change a lot!
A true par-5 for most of us; well-protected on all sides and long, on the third shot, is "not good".
A fine golf hole.

Moving Sunday Morning Golf/walks to the Lakes Course For Awhile

March 24, 2019

Well, the Oaks Course has served my wife and I well for many years. Now, it (the Oaks Course) is getting a renovation that is taking place from this past week until at least late-Fall 2019. We wish the project well!

As a result of the renovation, my/our play will be on the Lakes course. Ok! We used to play the courses equally and we look forward to renewing our Lakes Course experiences. (Note: Over the past few years, the Oaks course dominated our golf-time as it has been a more-comfortable golf/walk as I got older. Of course, we HAVE played the Lakes over the past few years - simply, just "only" when we participated in a tournament/competition and played a golf/cart-riding round. I only mention this as an aside as to why I have only played the Lakes a few times per year over the past few years and this section of this Web-site has up until now been dominated with Oaks course photos).

The view, as with many of the holes now on the Lakes -- and, will be the case on the Oaks after the current renovation has been completed -- is quite open and less tree-lined than I remember it being. Of course, my being a fan-of and luckily participant-of Scotland golf: I love such a view and this view gave me a smile. If one "blocks out" the right-side fairway trees, this morning's view brought back memories of the Eden course in St. Andrews.... always, a pleasant thought/memory.

Lakes 16th (New - to us) Front Tee: Upper-level location

Although a year-or-so old, this was a new tee location to us.

This golf hole and the subsequent walk green-to-17th tee is an example of why golf/walk-wise the Oaks course dominated our play the past few years. Ok! We will take our time during play this Summer in this area of the golf-course and following golf/cart players will, I am certain have patience with us.... I am old, now!

Saying Goodbye to Golf/Walks on the Oaks Course For Awhile

March 17, 2019

The Oaks Course) is getting a renovation that is taking place from tomorrow (March 18, 2019) until at least late-Fall 2019. We wish the project well!

As a result of the renovation, my/our play will be on the Lakes course. Ok! We look forward to the Lakes. Below are just a couple of photos from today's (March 17, 2019) golf/walk in preparation of "following" the Oaks' Course renovation a bit photo-wise. I will decide how to / where-to put renovation photos as time moves along. Goodbye, for awhile: Oaks Course golf/walks! See you in November 2019 (or so).

It will be interesting to watch how these views change as the renovation / tree-clearing / ground re-shaping / bunker removal/replacement/addition takes place.

Getting Started with 2019's Photos

January 27, 2019

It has happened that January, 2019 has been a "Sunday-less" golf-weekend time for me (the Sunday weather has not cooperated): Except this morning (January 27). It was a beautiful (even though cool: Started out the round in full-sun, mid-30s F. Wonderful! Still amazing, to me (A Minnesota-born golfer) to be playing at such a temp) start to the 2019 golf-year weather-wise -- and, we even had some good golf-shots!
