Making The Turn on The Jubilee
As you start the Back Nine on The Jubilee - enjoy the scenery and, perhaps, the breeze/wind!

St. Andrews The Jubilee Course - Back Nine

Distances are from the Yellow Tee markers; "Regular" tees and (Red) "Forward" Tees

10th Tee - 403 Yards (387 Yards), Par 4

Another terrific driving hole on the Jubilee.
The following photo is from our 2009 trip.
I am often off-to-the-right on this hole after the tee shot....
As a result - I could not find a second-or-third shot photo of this hole -- but, the green is wonderful once you get there!
If you are playing your second or third shot from the fairway, this fairway is true Links golf:
Your ball runs "forever" and the green is large and it is slightly downhill at the green.
A terrific golf hole.

11th Tee - 488 Yards (422 Yards), Par 5

Just "Hit it Hard and Far!".
The following photo is from our 2009 trip.
Far right (of the tree seen off the tee, about 180 yards out) is normally a long-rough / lost ball situation.
The first of two back-to-back par-5s. Both are excellent golf holes from the fairway and challenges, otherwise.

11th - Tee Shot Landing Area
Yes, there are some trees (well, at least two) on the Jubilee.

11th - Second Shot
Again: Just hit it hard! However, there are some fairway bunkers left-side that come into play for some of us.
The following photo is from our 2009 trip.

11th - Third Shot / Approach Area

12th Tee - 516 Yards (479 Yards), Par 5

Another great driving hole.
The second of the two back-to-back par-5s on the Jubilee.
This, the 12th, is longer than the 11th --
and the ending-shot to a well-protected multi-level green makes this the more-challenging of these two par-5s.
The visitors/regular tees are located up a small incline and the forward tee is located at "ground level".
In summer, I am sure the rough both left and right off the tee are not "fun" -
but the fairway is (assuming you miss the bunkers left)- quite generous, setting up a fun second shot to this par-5.

12th - Second Shot
Fairway bunkers can come into play with this shot -
but, if you are willing to hit a right-to-left shot you will have a short approach shot to the green area.

12th - Third/Approach Shot
A Scottish-type (mounded), multi-level green with run-off on all sides and the back
makes this a difficult green to expect a one-putt birdie or par.

12th - Looking Back Down the Hole
From the 13th tee, as you look back down the 12th it is apparent why you might have chosen to hit your second shot right-to-left!
A wonderful par-5.

13th Tee - 176 Yards (147 Yards), Par 3

The wind may be howling/noticeable while on the visitors/regular 12th tees, again located up a small incline.
The forward tee is located at "ground level" - and, perhaps, the player is more-protected while on the tee.
Ok... the wind WILL still affect the lower-tee player.
Don't go long - the bushes behind the green will (probably) end up giving anyone who lands there an unplayable lie or lost ball.
This is my favorite par-3 on the Jubilee. Great views.... Normally.... In all directions.

13th Tee...
I cropped the 12th green out of the preceding photo, with the intention of giving you a better "line" to the 12th green.
That's the 14th tee shown in the left side of this photo.

13th Green Area
This photo is taken left of your preferred line to this par-3.
Well protected and, yet, a Scottish style run-up shot is very possible (off the tee or as your second shot if you are NOT left off the tee).
Just don't go long with either the tee shot or the second shot.

14th Tee - 423 Yards (415 Yards), Par 4 (Front Tee Players: Par 5)

Another wonderful - yet, long - Par 4 (Forward tee: Par 5) golf hole at The Jubilee.
As mentioned before: "Hit it Long"! off the tee.
Many of us will happily take a 5 (from any tee) on the Jubilee's 14th.
I have mentioned this a few times in this Photo-set of golf holes at St. Andrews, but I bring it up again on this magnificent golf hole:
If this does not look enticing to you - don't play golf in Scotland. You will not find many better Par 4s - anywhere.
Enjoy. Especially, later in the day with the sun on St. Andrews. Very special.

14th Second Shot
For some of us: This shot will end up short of the green. Ok.... Five is not bad on this hole!

14th Green Area
The 14th green is large, fair and is shared with the Jubilee's 4th hole (4th hole players shown on the right side of this photo).

15th Tee - 346 Yards (341 Yards), Par 4

This photo is from our 2009 trip.
I enjoy this hole: The forward tee is often behind my tee. My wife is not pleased.
Any drive that catches the fairway (missing the left-side bunker or the ride side gorse) leads to a fun second shot
"through the chute" and the severe "ditch" that gives a false impression to distance.

15th Second Shot
Forward tee players or other players who did not catch the fairway off the tee -
may well "lay up" short of the "ditch" that is just beyond the chute.
If you are going for the green: Hit enough club; you probably will not be long!

15th Green Area
Protected by the chute and the ditch. Once on the green: Not an easy two-putt. Sorry!

16th Tee - "Take a Break" Spot

If you cannot stop now - come back later via the walking path.
A special spot.
A special place.

16th Tee - 418 Yards (409 Yards), Par 4 (Front Tee Players: Par 5)

This photo is from our 2009 trip.
A challenging golf hole from any tee -- with, especially, a challenging drive for the front tee player.
The regular tee player very well may end up long on the right side of the fairway; when the rough is "up" --
a very challenging, quite-long, second shot to the green.

16th Second Shot
This photo is from our 2009 trip.
For many of us - the green is a LONG way away. Uphill at the end.
There are upper (left side of this photo) and lower (right side of this photo) green areas.
If I remember correctly, the lower-right green was in use during our 2012 April/May trip and the upper-left green was used in 2009.
If you visit St. Andrews Jubilee before I do (next-planned for April/May 2014) let me know which green is NOW used.

16th Green Area
This photo is from our 2009 trip.
Anytime that a player pars this golf hole: He/She has a smile as they leave the green area.

17th Tee - 199 Yards (180 Yards), Par 3

This photo is from our 2009 trip.
A quite-large, mounded and well protected Scottish-style green awaits your tee shot.
A bogie will win quite often on this hole in match play.

17th Green Area
This photo is from our 2009 trip.

17th Green Area...
This zoomed photo is from our 2012 trip and shows the 18th tee a few steps beyond the 17th green.

18th Tee - 405 Yards (372 Yards), Par 4

Another wonderful driving-hole to finish-up the Jubilee.
Fairway bunkers - or the mounds protecting the Grounds Crew buildings - or the out-of-bounds left: May come into play.
Depending upon the wind - a long second shot may, still, find the player short of this final green.

18th Second Shot
You will love this shot. Even if you end up short of the green.

18th Second Shot...

18th Approach and Green Area
Many of us, being short on our second shot, will have this final shot to the 18th and The Jubilee.
Two-putt -- and: Have a great end-of-round relax in the Visitors' Clubhouse.
Play The Castle Course in the afternoon or the next morning!
Or - Play the New Course!!!
Three terrific golf courses.
