SCScompA's Example of Using HTM For a Cooking-Recipe

Sometimes we want to try a new (for us!) recipe. This is an example of a recipe we tried this month.

To find a recipe, we first went to our own set of cookbooks (we have quite a few) to find a Cornish hen recipe -- and, we were surprised to not find such a recipe.

We then went to the Web (using the Google search engine) and found a few. The search words I used with Google were: "Cornish Hen".

We selected a link that Google offered to us and the following is an example of putting that information into an HTM (Web-displayable) format that fit our needs.

The recipe for the stuffing was slightly changed (we "made our own" stuffing based upon the recommended ingredients) from what is shown. If you have any questions regarding the following let me know.

The purpose of this Web page example is to show an approach at building an HTM-style Web page for a recipe. However, the taste of the results of the recipe was quite good, as well! It was a fun exercise.

The Recipe - Cornish Hen Stuffed with Flavors of the Heartland and Apples

From: http://www.indianharvest.com/heartland.html

Note: We adjusted the following for two Cornish hens. We also used the recommended stuffing mixture as a guide for putting together our own mixture. Sometime we will order the Heartland mixture.

Ingredients

10 Cornish hens
5 Celery ribs Small diced
6 Shallots Small diced
2 to 3 Garlic cloves Minced
1 1/2 tsp Parsley Finely chopped
1 1/2 tsp Sage Finely chopped
1 1/2 tsp Thyme Finely chopped
2 T Unsalted butter
2 Granny Smith Apples Peeled and Small diced

Procedure

Out of the Oven

Ready to Eat

The Plate

The wine was a wonderful French Red: 1983 Pommard Jean Claude Boisset

The dessert, served later, was Panna Cotta.

A very nice evening! Trying the new (for us) Cornish Hen recipe ended up being a very enjoyable exercise.

If you are interested in seeing how this HTM "code" looks like, you could click on File->Save As and, after saving the Web page, open the saved file with some text editor such as Microsoft's WordPad to see the HTM information.

If you have not already done so, check out Google with the keywords: Cornish Hen and see if you can find the above base-recipe from the Heartland Web page and compare the above with the official Web page. Perhaps you will find a number of matters on the Heartland Web page that are of interest to you.
