SGA NEWS- 2008

February 7, 2008

The 2008 SGA season will officially open with our Spring Banquet on March 19 (see flyer, below).  The SGA will provide beer & wine prior to an excellent dinner in the Ballroom.  We hope members and their spouse or friend will attend.  Call the receptionist at 846-9667 to make your reservation.

Again, this will be an active year.

  • We have 19 Interclubs
  • Senior Invitational on June 10
  • Centurion (with the LGA) on June 17
  • Three Tuesdays during the year we will have a mini-tournament with a reverse shot-gun start with the SGA providing lunch and beer
  • We will start the Ladder Tournament (our most popular event) earlier this year in order to avoid vacation time in late summer
  • The SGA CHAMPIONSHIP (by age brackets) will be played October 14.  The SGA will again pick up the tab for lunch and beer.
  • The Fall Banquet will be on October 22

We have petitioned the tournament committee to have a separate Senior Flight for Swing Into Spring.  If they do add a Senior Flight, we need senior participation in order to continue this flight.

SGA interclub sign-up sheets will be posted on the first Tuesday of each month for the following month.  One week prior to the interclub, we will verify your participation via email ( in order to reduce the number of "no-shows").

In the past, we have hosted five interclubs but we are only hosting four this year.  The SGA committee was pleased with the NRCC senior participation in home interclubs last year and hope for the same this year.

SGA mini- tournaments on Tuesday:

-- The SGA has a block of tee times every Tuesday beginning at 9:00 am.  Most Tuesday mini-tournaments will be flighted.  We would like to increase Tueday participation.  If you have a suggestion pass it on to the SGA staff.  Tuesday play rules are as follows:

  1. Entry fee $5.  No refunds after you tee off, unless the Pro-Shop cancels the event.
  2. Flighted unless the event is individual net
  3. 100% handicap :  Blue tees- blue tee handicap plus 2  ;  White tees- white tee handicap;  Red tees(restricted the 80 and over) red tee handicap minus 4.
  4. With 12 players or less we will play individual net.

Remember, if you should get a hole-in-one during an SGA event, the SGA will pick up the tab for drinks!!

We are pleased to have Tim Pitman from the Pro Shop working with the SGA this year.  He will be assisted by Donnie Stutts, a new member of the Pro Staff.  Tim has been very helpful during our 2008 SGA planning.
